My kneedy husband

Lately Mark has been such a bum. I mean, I have to drive him around, carry his laundry up and down the stairs, and wait on him hand and foot... and knee. OK so I'm totally joking (and a pretty pathetic joke at that!). My poor sweetie tore the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and menisci in his right knee playing football a couple weeks ago. I feel so bad for him, and I am actually very happy to help him out where I can. Surprisingly he's walking around pretty well - just a little bit of a limp.

Despite having to miss out on all his favorite winter sports this season (hockey, skiing, broomball), he's had a great attitude about the whole situation. Perhaps because he already knows the drill. Unfortunately Mark tore his left ACL in college playing, yep - you guessed it, flag football. A little deceleration plus a cut to the left or right is all it takes. Mark's mom, dad, sis and a number of our friends have all done the same thing. Apparently you can get by OK without having the ligament repaired, but playing sports again would be out of the question. Not an option for my athletic hubby! Mark's surgery is scheduled for 10/27... I'll be sure to keep you posted!

This isn't Mark's knee, but here are some MRI images I found:
