It's been a hot summer so far. . . but I've managed to keep most of it alive! The strawberries didn't survive, but my tomatoes and peppers are coming along. I was waiting until the first tomato was perfectly ripe to pick it, but sadly a bird (or a rat? yuck!) beat me to it. The basil is perfect anytime for pasta, pesto, sandwiches, etc. Mint is mojito-ready! Cilantro is a little slow, but hopefully there will be at least enough for one batch of Mark's yummy pico de gallo. Next year I'd like to expand the herbs... oregano, tarragon, rosemary... mmmm. Having fresh herbs on hand inspires me to cook! I think the hubs is a fan :)

Backyard bliss
Last year we spruced up our little cement patch out back with a small raised garden. This year we added some new plants, a few pots, more flowers, and a tree. Instead of looking at walls and cement, I see something we created and nurtured. Just having that little bit of greenery brings so much life and tranquility to our home :)
