Girls weekend in Dallas!

Eight years have come and gone since my girlfriends and I graduated from college and our lives moved in different directions. Fortunately, we've maintained solid friendships despite living 1000 miles apart! It helps that we've been in each other's weddings, giving me pretty good excuses to head back to MN and see them :) For a long time we've been saying how we should plan a girls weekend. Now we all have lots of responsibilities, jobs, and kids (well, not all of us) ... it seemed like we might never make it happen. But we did! Hooray!

We decided to head down to Dallas since Amelia moved there after her wedding last year and we hadn't been down to visit her in her new life. Rachel flew down from MN, I flew in from Bmore, and our friend Lauren drove down from Arkansas, where she and her family recently relocated. Rachel and Lauren each have a little daughter, so they got a nice Mother's day present in the form of vacation!!

Amelia was definitely the hostess with the mostest - she made us right at home in her lovely apartment and treated us like royalty. We enjoyed her home-cooking, an evening in watching a "chick flick," a day laying out at the pool, and a night out on the town! It was a much needed getaway and sooo nice to spend some quality time with good girlfriends. We'd love to make the girls weekend an annual thing - but as long as we do it before another 8 years go by I'll be happy :)

Mark also scored some quality time with his college buddies Caleb and Matt down in Charlotte last month. Of course those guys never think to take any pics, but I heard it involved grilling out, drinking beer, and playing golf. I expected no less! I think it's healthy for couples to have a little time away with friends now and then. Then you are even more happy to see them when they get back... especially when your husband brings back Bojangle's BoBerry biscuits! Yum.
